Mission Statement

We want to be an industry leader in performance enhancement, we deliver a positive training experience that improves speed of movement, power and strength in character regardless of ability or economic status. From athletes 7 years old all the way to the Pros, We believe the Apollo Strength Academy will allow athletes to do two things in our program: to help athletes improve their athletic performance, but more importantly, develop a higher level of self-confidence. If you are looking to get faster, stronger, and build more self-confidence, then the Apollo Strength Academy is North Jersey’s number one choice to get you there.

Our goal with every client at the Apollo Strength Academy (ASA) is to find what their body specifically needs to perform better.  In order to determine where each individual's imbalances or deficits are we use the Function Movement Screen (FMS) in combination with principles and techniques from the Onnit Academy.  Onnit Academy unconventional training is based off of ten principles; efficiency and resource optimization, versatility, functionality, balance, practicality, application, innovation, longevity, progression, and discipline.  We develop individualized programs by using implements such as body weight, kettlebells, steel mace, steel clubs, battle ropes, sandbag, barbells, and dumbbells.  Our main priority is to develop a solid frame work for fast and effective short term goals but, at the same time we strive to progressively build on that frame work by enhancing the abilities learned through a balanced and steady progression that lasts long term.

In addition to offering personalized individual instruction we also offer group classes and circuit training to all different groups of clients ranging from beginners to high end competitive athletes.  We take pride in applying the same principles from the Onnit Academy to our group and circuit training classes, preaching form, proper technique, and solid frame work with room to progressively build and get better with every single class.  At the ASA we offer a variety of different group classes.  Some classes consist of a combination of multiple implements that we offer and other classes specialize in using one specific implement, such as only body weight, kettlebell, or steel mace.

At the ASA and Optimum Health and Fitness we strongly believe in crawling before you can walk and walking before you can run.  Injuries can be debilitating both physically and maybe even more so mentally.  We want to prevent this from happening.  That is why building a solid frame work for each individual client based on their specific needs is so important before we begin the journey toward a more healthy and functional lifestyle.

Sports Performance Training

Apollo Strength Academy (ASA) is the premier health and performance facility in the Northern NJ area. Apollo offers an innovative approach to training – building on a solid athletic foundation while staying focused on each athlete's individual goals. Our unique program includes instruction in movement training, injury reduction and rehabilitation, linear and lateral speed techniques, foot speed and agility, explosive power development, proper functional strength training and energy system conditioning. Athletes are closely supervised as the trainer takes them through an intense 75-minute workout with attention always being paid to proper technique and safety. Our core philosophy is based on a quote from world-renowned physical therapist Gray Cook — “First move well, then move often”.  Even Aristotle in the 4th Century BC said, “Life is Movement.”  At Apollo, we are dedicated to helping you move often, very well.  Since most people are not trained in Physiology or Kinesiology, they don’t have a good understanding of how to move properly. Our goal is to help you learn what your body needs and to provide you with the tools to move better throughout your entire life. We start by assessing our client’s movement patterns using tools such as the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) the SFMA Screen and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT).  We then use corrective exercise and primal movement patterns to cement the new movement into the brain. Finally we design a training plan to provide mobility, stability, strength and power to help each client achieve his or her goals. The workout consists of functionally sound movement training, strength training and conditioning with a strong focus on basic and proper technique. The workout becomes progressively more challenging once basic techniques have been mastered. All groups are lead by our qualified staff members to ensure maximum attention.

Sports Specific Training

The Apollo Speed School is a cutting edge training program designed to enable young athletes, of any skill level, to reach their optimal athletic performance on the field or the court.

We develop:

1.Faster: Starts, Acceleration, Maximal Velocity

2.Increased: Reactive Ability, Agility, Vertical Leap

3.Injury Prevention
We offer personalized instruction that addresses the athlete's sports specific needs as well as their general physical conditioning requirements. We also do our best to encourage personal development as students, members of the community and teammates.

Why Train?

Most kids and their parents believe that speed is a natural gift, dependent primarily on genetics. This is only true to a point. Few recognize that speed is a SKILL and one that can be practiced and improved. This concept is analogous to improving physical strength. With proper guidance, all athletes have the innate ability to put on size and strength by working out with weights and other kinds of resistance training. The same is true with speed, except that speed demands execution of proper technique and a commitment to aerobic conditioning.

In an athletic climate where tenths of a second can mean the difference between winning and losing, success and failure, speed training should be a mainstay of any conditioning program. Today, young athletes are bigger and faster than ever before. The contest for starting positions on teams is more competitive than ever, which means achieving optimal levels in every area of performance is integral to success. Speed conditioning in the past has been relegated to dated programs involving static stretching and large numbers of wind sprints, usually started about two weeks before real practice begin. This results not so much in the athlete getting in shape, but rather the infliction of shin splints, groin pulls and other sprint related injuries. We believe that speed training should be a year round proposition, just like strength and agility training.

Apollo Speed School Programs are the culmination of extensive research into the science of running, speed, agility and vertical jump. Teaching young athletes how to run as fast as possible is now recognized as a coaching discipline

Training any Athlete to achieve optimal speed can be difficult and complex. Whether they are a pre-high school or a scholarship athlete, we strive to make it as simple as possible.

"Thank you for all of your support and knowledge around diabetes. I've made some really significant changes in my behavior [regarding exercise, glucometer use and diet] that I feel very sure it will remain a way of life for me."

"After two weeks of exercise, my doctor took me off one of the blood-pressure medicines, and I feel stronger on the golf course than I have all summer."

Bobby , a 35 year old Dia-Beat-It! client

I needed to learn when and how much to eat before exercise. I become adept at counting carbohydrates and continue to exercise on my own, consulting with Optimum Health & Fitness whenever needed.
